What’s going on?

There are a lot of things to sink your teeth into this summer at your Cathedral. Take a look a look below, save the dates, and get ready! More details will follow soon.

5.30-8.00pm (w/ childcare)

Walkabout image

Back by popular demand for it’s 4th year, The Walkabout is a ‘VBS’ of sorts for all ages, and yet it is so much more! This year, instead of just doing 4 nights one week, we will gather once a week for six weeks, on Thursday evenings.

We will break bread and worship together as families, and then separate for age appropriate learning. Adults will end the evening with the ancient, quiet service of Compline.

Our theme this year is ‘Now to Live the Life’, and as a church we will be challenged through the Book of James to consider what it means to be ‘doers of the word’.

Play DateLooking for a way to connect with other parents and their kids this summer? Each week families will be gathering from 10.30am for playtime and a picnic at the Cathedral. It all starts on June 14, and all ages are welcome.

Citywide Prayer

w/ Holy City Hymns

Tuesday, June 18, July 16 & August 13, 6.30-7.45pm

Worship Hands

God has been laying on the heart of a number of different church leaders, from different denominations, that we need to be coming together to pray for our city. Therefore, this summer, there will be three gatherings at your Cathedral where we will worship, hear from God’s word, and pray for Charleston. Worship music will be led by the talented Holy City Hymns collective, and teaching will be provided by various church leaders from the Charleston area.

St Christopher’s 75th Anniversary

Saturday-Sunday, June 22 & 23

St Christopher 75 logoIt’s been 75 years since our Diocese was given the land on Seabrook Island that is our dearly loved Camp and Conference Center. Hundreds of thousands of people have visited it in that time and found it to be a ‘thin place’, where God seems to be especially at work. This year we plan to join the celebrations and will be heading to the beach at Camp on Saturday June 22nd, and then having our own celebration here at the Cathedral on Sunday June 23rd.

Saturday, July 13, 10.30am (w/ childcare)

Ordination graphic

On Saturday July 13, at 10.30am, our own deacon, Jonathan Bennett will be ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Mark Lawrence. Join us for this moving service, and the reception to follow, as we celebrate this important day with him and his family.

Summer Sermon Series

Sunday, July 21, 28, Aug 4, 11, 18

(w/ childcare)

Sermon Series

Once again we will have a summer sermon series as we go through a book of the Bible, and seek to understand what it is that God is saying to us through his word.

Previous years have seen excellent teaching on Ruth and Hebrews. Don’t miss out this year: plan to be here or listen online if you are away.

College Move-In Day

Saturday, Aug 17, 9am-12pm

College Move In graphic

For the third year in a row, we will head down the street, and around the corner, to the dorms of College of Charleston, and look to bless our college neighbors and their parents by carrying bags, boxes, surfboards etc. to their rooms, and by handing out water, or consoling concerned parents! If you have never been a part of this, you have missed out. It is such a great morning and worth every ounce of sweat that you may lose.

Bluegrass ‘n’ Burgers

Friday, Aug 23, 5.30pm

Burgers Banjo

As our summer comes to a close we  like to end with party for our  neighborhood of midtown! The college students are back in town, the neighbors are back from vacation, and so it seems like a good time to invite them to a fun time in FitzSimmons Alison Close. With excellent music once again from, and great food to eat, this is a great event for the whole family to enjoy.
