Summer Refreshment 2010
As we gather for worship each Sunday, we offer our gratitude and praise to the Lord and enjoy the company of one another with a cool glass of lemonade. Entering the presence of the Lord we experience more than just the air conditioned Sanctuary. We experience real spiritual refreshment. When summer comes it is common to see fewer faces at worship services, the church office is quiet, meeting spaces go unused, and the most exciting event of the week is when Anthony cuts the grass in the Close. Some might say this description is not desirable, favoring a busier summer season filled with Vacation Bible School meetings and decorating, lots of weekly Bible studies and a bunch of church business meetings. At the Cathedral, we encourage an intentionally more relaxed pace during the summer months.
Summer offers a time to be refreshed, to be filled up, to sit in one or two scriptures and see something new. In the summer we encourage time with children and with extended family. Making new friends by the pool side or while sitting in the stands at all those ball games is a priority.
For our Cathedral community, summer can also be a time for more concentrated times of spiritual growth and renewal.
Check out these Staycation spiritual growth options for children, students, parents and adults. Each offers unique time for refreshment, renewed relationships, and increased Kingdom awareness.
