Thursday evenings in June and July, 5.30-8.00pm (beginning June 13)
Back by popular demand for it’s 4th year, The Walkabout is a ‘VBS’ of sorts for all ages, and yet it is so much more! This year, instead of just doing 4 nights one week, we will gather once a week for six weeks, on Thursday evenings. We will break bread and worship together as families, and then separate for age appropriate learning. Adults will end the evening with the ancient, quiet service of Compline.
Our theme this year is ‘Now to Live the Life’, and as a church we will be challenged through the Book of James to consider what it means to be ‘doers of the word’. The team of lay leaders planning our teaching has fleshed this out a bit more: “Many of us struggle to figure out how we should live our lives as faithful Christians. While we know our salvation is complete and everlasting, we are troubled by our own complacency, lethargy and forgetfulness. Thankfully, we have the biblical book of James, which rouses us from our doldrums and serves as a guide to practical Christian living. Join us on Thursday evenings this summer as we listen in on James’ instructions to first-century Christians who struggled with many of the same problems that face us today.”
