I n the Gospel of Matthew we read, that, Jesus not only proclaimed the good news of the Kingdom wherever he went, but, he also healed people. Matthew 4.23: “And he went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction among the people.” In Acts 2 we read that ‘many signs and wonders were done through the apostles,’ which included healing people. God heals people througout scripture, and he still heals today. And not just our bodies, but our hearts, our minds, and our spirits.
As a church, we have discerned that God has led us to be a community of healing, restoration and freedom, and that he has given people to our body who have gifts in this area, to lead and train us in this ministry. Kelli Hample is our DIrector of Prayer Ministry, and she is already seeing people regularly coming to the Cathedral for healing prayer (our Sozo Prayer Ministry). Not only this, she has trained up prayer ministers in our church body to help lead this ministry and to pray for people on Sunday morning. The result is that at this Cathedral we are seeing people healed by God, and we live in expectation that he will continue to do the same, for his Kingdom’s sake. We believe that a day will come when people will regularly walk off the street into our building and ask, “Is this the place where people get healed?” Please pray with us that this will become a reality.
